Fair Work Agency

The Fair Work Agency (FWA) brings together the functions of several existing labour market enforcement bodies into a single organisation, creating a more coordinated approach to enforcing employment rights. Its initial remit includes the work of the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (EAS), the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA), and responsibility for National Minimum Wage enforcement, which is transitioning from HMRC. The Government intends to expand the Agency’s remit over time, beginning with the enforcement of statutory holiday pay in 2027, alongside additional responsibilities introduced through wider employment rights reforms.

As the Fair Work Agency’s remit expands, employers will need to keep pace with new enforcement priorities, understand their legal responsibilities and ensure their employment practices and labour supply arrangements remain compliant. ALP is committed to helping employers understand the Agency’s evolving role, interpret new requirements and prepare for the changing enforcement landscape through practical guidance, expert insight and timely updates.

ALP is proud that our Chief Executive, Joanne Young, has been appointed as one of three employer representatives on the Fair Work Agency Advisory Board. This appointment provides an important opportunity to ensure that the views and practical experiences of employers and labour providers are represented as the Fair Work Agency develops and its remit expands.
